‘Tis a Puzzlement

Garage sale season has started. My wife found a 3-D puzzle of the Millennium Falcon at a decent price.
The kids were excited, and we thought this would be a nice project.
Then we opened the box.
There were 857 pieces.
And they all looked the same.
The completed ship is a couple of feet in circumference, but 90% of it is just gray spaceshippey-looking stuff. There is very little context to be able to group pieces. And being 3-D, it doesn’t have edge pieces to start with.
Here is a representation of any family’s conversation as they put together this puzzle:
Person A: I found a gray piece with some tubes!
Person B: I found a gray piece with some tubes!
Person C: Hey, I found a gray piece with some wires!
Persons A and B: Oooh! Set that one aside.
It may take us a few weeks to finish this one.
Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known

Ugh. Good luck with that. Good thing for me there’s playoff hockey on right now. That occupies my free time.

Playoff hockey? WOOOOOOOO Steve Yzerman’s team is beating the Capitals! STEVE YZERMAN RULES.
And now, back to your regularly-scheduled comments.

Burrill, shouldn’t it be the CAPITALS? The way you spell it, it’s Capital and lowercases.

I hate puzzles.
When I worked at a toy store, we used to have to put together those 3-D ones as displays. We had to glue each piece together so the kids wouldn’t just come knock them down.
We did a 3′ tall Big Ben.

Well…since I’m not too fond of the Caps, I’d rather call them the capitals.
Also, somebody once suggested that the minor league team associated with the Capitals should be called the County Seats.

Capital and the Lower Cases sounds like the name of a really lame 1950’s Pop band. ;-)

I might like to hear them. If you find an album of theirs, I’ll dig out the old record player…
