All-Haiku Bowl Results, 2020

2021
Okay, okay, it is 2021 at this point, but the results are headlines as 2020 because they match with the 2020 predictions made in 2020 for the 2020 season. Also, the results are not all-haiku, just the predictions were. A more accurate title would be “Results for the All-Haiku Predictions made in 2020”.
Before the bowl games commenced for this past college football season, I made some predictions and some more predictions. Here, for your reading enjoyment, is the tally of those predictions. Note that the results are not in haiku form, in contrast to the predictions.

Here is the list (correct predictions in green, incorrect in red):

And here are the results of the various forecasting methodologies (see the first year for description of the methodologies) (also, use the word methodologies if you want to sound important; methods would work just as well and is shorter) :
- Some Blog Site picks were 16-10 (better rate than last year)
- CBS120 picks were 12-14 (much worse than last year)
I don’t think it was right for a team that won only 6 games to get into the playoffs, but such was 2020.
Conferences
Since the strength of the conference has something to do with the results, I thought I would tally each conference’s bowl game record for the 2020 (and the first bit of 2021) season.
- AAC: 1-5
- ACC: 0-5
- Big 10: 3-2*
- Big 12: 5-0
- Independent: 2-2
- MAC: 2-0
- MW: 2-1
- PAC12: 0-2
- SEC: 7*-2
- Sun Belt: 4-1
- USA: 0-6
* additional win/loss due to playoff + championship game
So the best conference was the Big12 (they won 100% of their bowl games) and the worst was a 3-way tie among the ACC/PAC12/CONF. USA (at 0 %).
Or maybe the MAC and PAC12 were the worst conferences because they sent the fewest teams to bowl games this year.
The SEC almost had a clean sweep – they had the most teams, the most wins, and the overall champion. But the Big 12 had the best win percentage at 100%, and MAC also had 100%.
Given the strength of the Big 12 showing in bowl games, that says (to me at least) that they should have been represented in the playoffs.
Next year: playoffs again! And more players sitting out of the non-playoff games!
Then a champion came forward from the army encampment of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath. His height was six cubits and a span.
