All-Haiku Bowl Results, 2022

2023
Okay, okay, it is 2023 at this point, but the results are headlines as 2022 because they match with the 2022 predictions made in 2022 for the 2022 season. Also, the results are not all-haiku, just the predictions were. A more accurate title would be “Results for the All-Haiku Predictions made in 2022”.
Before the bowl games commenced for this past college football season, I made some predictions. Here, for your reading enjoyment, is the tally of those predictions. Note that the results are not in haiku form, in contrast to the predictions.

And here are the results of the various forecasting methodologies (see the first year for description of the methodologies) (also, use the word methodologies if you want to sound important; methods would work just as well and is shorter) :
- Some Blog Site picks were 26-16 (much better than last year)
- CBS120 picks were 21-21 (slightly worse than last year)
I don’t think it was right for two teams that did not win their conferences to get into the playoffs, but such was 2022.
Conferences
Since the strength of the conference has something to do with the results, I thought I would tally each conference’s bowl game record for the 2022 (and the first bit of 2023) season. And it looks like a bunch of other places are pitting the conference records against each other too this year.
- AAC: 4-4
- ACC: 5-4
- Big 10: 5-4
- Big 12: 2-7*
- Independent: 2-1
- MAC: 4-2
- MW: 3-4
- PAC12: 3-4
- SEC: 7*-5
- Sun Belt: 2-4
- USA: 5-3
* additional win/loss due to playoff + championship game
So the best conference was a tie with the MAC and Independents (they won 67% of their bowl games) and the worst was the Big 12 (at 22%).
Or maybe the Sun Belt and the MAC were the worst conferences because they sent the fewest teams (6) to bowl games this year.
The SEC was again a mixed bag – they had the most teams and the overall champion, but their win percentage was in the middle.
I still say the playoffs should just be the one best team from each conference.
Next year: playoffs again! Maybe more playoffs! And more players sitting out of the non-playoff games!
Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, to prevent you from being defeated by your enemies.
